Project of the Lublin City Hall and the National Bank of Poland aimed at strengthening competences of teachers of entrepreneurship from secondary schools in Lublin, on issues related to building a startup.
About the project
The “Lublin School of Entrepreneurship” project is implemented by the Lublin Municipality in cooperation with the National Bank of Poland under the Economic Education Program.
The purpose of the project is to train 15 teachers from Lublin secondary schools in modern business models and to improve teachers’ competences in teaching entrepreneurship as well as to increase entrepreneurial attitudes among students.
The project is dedicated to teachers of the subject “Basics of Entrepreneurship” in secondary schools and teachers of other subjects interested in this topic. The project also includes activities aimed at students whose teachers will take part in the project.
The following activities are planned as part of the project:
- workshops for teachers to be held on the first two weekends of April 2019 (6/7 and 13/14 April 2019 ) for a total of 28 lesson hours;
- carrying out presentations in schools on the economic potential of the City of Lublin by employees of the Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Municipal Office of Lublin. The presentations will be aimed at developing entrepreneurial attitudes among students, building economic patriotism and the economic potential of the city. During each meeting with students activating quizzes with prizes will be carried out, concerning the thematic scope of presentations;
- competition with prizes dedicated to students entitled “Battle of the Startups”. Groups of 4-5 students from participating teachers’ classes will be allowed to enter;
- The final of the “Lublin Entrepreneurship School” project. During the event, students will present their business idea in front of experts in the form of pitching and question and answer session. The expert jury will choose the winning team, which will receive material prizes. The meeting will be enriched with a lecture on setting up your own business. Certificates and thanks will be given to teachers, as well as prizes for the winning team in the “Battle of the Startups”.
The final of the project “Lublin School of Entrepreneurship” & “Battle of Startups” competition – coverage of the event
On June 4, 2019, the final event summarizing the project “Lublin School of Entrepreneurship” took place in the Lublin Science and Technology Park. During the Final Event, the winners of the “Battle of Startups” competition were selected and prizes were awarded to the best teams that created a startup project and presented it in front of the audience and a panel of experts. The jury consisted of: Chairman Mr. Marcin Kęćko – Representative of the Mayor of Lublin for startups and Deputy Director of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department of Lublin City Hall, members of the commission: Piotr Pietras-Managing Director at Edge One Solutions Sp. z o.o. and Ewa Waszkiewicz-Presenter of the National Bank of Poland. According to the jury, the most interesting idea for a business was presented by students from the Electronic School Complex in Lublin with a startup called “Intelligent Chicken”. Second place ex aequo went to two teams: startup “Wonder” from the A.J. Vetter School of Economics and startup “Fresh & Our – Locally from Our Farmers” from the School Bursa No. 3 in Lublin. Third place belonged to the startup “Intelligent Radiowave” also from the Electronic School Complex in Lublin.
During the event, Mr. Piotr Pietras – Co-founder of the European Institute of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, Managing Director at Edge One Solutions Sp. z o.o., co-founder of the first Accelerator specializing in Education Technologies in Poland – EduLAB Sp. z o.o. and Mr. Jeremi Zgierski – founder of the Lublin startup Prevlly told students about creating startups.
After the official part, the participants of the event went to the lobby of LPNT, where they could “talk behind the scenes” about their business ideas with representatives of, among others: Unicorn Hub Startup Platform, representatives of Samsung Incubator, representatives of Sempre a Frente Foundation, PixBlocks Startup, PROJEKTOR student volunteering and representatives of promotion offices and scientific circles of Lublin universities.
